Furballs' Broken Stone Leaf Scarf

Image
It is getting hotter and hotter here.  Moo Moo and Tabby is ready to unzip their fur coats and change into Sphinxes. Though it is strange to release winter item in the middle of  summer, but I just fool myself saying I am planning for the coming seasons lol Furball's Broken Stone Leaf Scarf is a long scarf adjustable with numbers of repeat.  It is a continuation from last month project , enlarging the pattern and stack it up sideway / zigzag with overlapping to increase interest.  I can see some will comment on that it is too busy, but well, we all have our own preference and that is what made life interesting. Enjoy the pattern and please donate generously to you local Cats / Animals Shelters when using the pattern in part or in whole.  Furballs and I thanks you in advance. Our next pattern will be a hat using the same old same old granite stitch and broken seed stitch.  I know it could be boring (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) but consider it is only on...

Furballs' Broken Stone Seed Leaf

Image
After using granite stitch and broken seed stitches in general combos in the past patterns, this time in Broken Stone Seed Leaf , we use the two stitch patterns in making up the common leaf motif.  I am pretty satisfy with the revival as it gives a different look than the normal stockinette background. In this piece, we keep the slanting line with the use of decreases and increases.  I love the look of the broken seed stitches in the leaf.  It echoes the horizontal line with the background granite stitches.  The purl bumps from the broken seed stitch is not as bold as the p2tog's from the granite stitches and make them both standout on its own. Difficulty level for this one:  furballs claimed they can do it with a flicker of their tails. Enjoy the pattern and please donate generously to you local Cats / Animals Shelters when using the pattern in part or in whole.  Furballs and I thanks you in advance. In our next blo...

Furballs' Broken Stone Seed Cowl

Image
After the hat, Furballs' Broken Stone Helmet , now comes the cowl.  It is designed using granite stone stitch and broken seed stitches as before knitted in rounds.  In addition, we also put in traveling cable to draw out the diamond pattern.  It is a very compact cowl, so if knitting for a not so petite recipient, consider put in more repeats in the pattern or simply increase the broken seed stitches in between the diamond cable. I choose the German twisted cast on for its ability of stretching.  Unfortunately, there is no mirror bind off, so I use Jeny's surprisingly stretchy bind off to match.  Alternative cast on / bind off as suggested by testers for this pattern included long tail cast on and sewn bind off Enjoy knitting and please remember to donate generously to local cats / animals shelters when using this pattern in part or in whole.  Furballs and I thanks you in advance. Next month, we have prepared a small coaster pattern, Fur...

Furballs' Broken Stone Seed Inside Out

Image
Now this time we are making the twin brother of Furballs' Broken Stone Seed .  They look very much alike by using different techniques to knit up. Furballs' Broken Stone Seed Inside Out , as its name implies, will be knitted from center out in rounds.  Increase will be at four points even every other row.  Usually we will call it mitering.  This technique in making up a square has its limitation.  It will never have straight edge like a square unless vigorous blocking applied after.  In this pattern, addition fabric surface is added with the use of short rows to make the corners sharper and easier to block if preferred. When doing the increases in this pattern, it might be a bit tight, so consider doing a set up of yarn over at positions a row below where the increases will happen to supply extra yarn for lifting to perform the m1r and m1l. This is a pattern of eight (8) rounds repeats and the size could be adjusted with the numbers of repeat...
