Furballs' Broken Stone Seed

Image
For the month of February, we are making Furballs' Broken Stone Seed for the donation to registered charity organization(s) helping with the bushfire and the wildlife affected in Australia.  Check out Red Cross or World Wild Life to see if they have special funding set up for the purpose.  It is in response to the call from Operation Gondor in Ravelry's Budding designers' Forum In this dishcloth, it has a mocked mitered look with the travelling cable crossing in the centre.  The use of granite stitch and broken seed stitch is a nice combo but the stitch length difference is there and therefore it has this barrel shaped look fresh off the needle.  I managed to do the "dry block", pull the piece in every direction possible and it is possible to get a straight edge rectangle look for a few second, so wet blocking to form a formal look is totally possible. Otherwise I do not see anything wrong with a barrel shaped dishcloth.  It will not work less efficient...

Furballs' Heart of Stone

Happy New Year to all !  In 2020, I try to be ahead of festivity with design publication, so the first charity pattern will be Furballs' Heart of Stone for Valentine Day 2020 In this pattern, the border edge of this diamond shaped coaster is done different than previous Furballs and Remembrance Stone Poppy .  I like the short rows in this one a bit better as the stockinette "interlude" in between the purl rows are all even out with the rest without short rows. With most of this kind of what I called k&p pattern, best to use single solid colour yarns to bring out the pattern.  Stripe yarn with long interval will be a good alternative, but since this is a small piece, so it might just behaves like single solid colour yarn lol Furballs say they can do this one with two paws any time :D Please remember donate generously to your local cats / animals shelters when using this pattern in part or whole.  Furballs and I thanks you in advance.
