Furballs' Koi

The idea of designing a k and p pattern in Koi has been there for a long time and this year, I finally have it done. It is a nice pattern to celebrate Chinese New Year.


 

Furballs and I would like to make it a charity pattern for the earthshake disaster in Tonga.  If you used this pattern in whole or in part, please make a donation to any NGO (for example, Red Cross)  that provide  assistance to Tonga during this hard time.  Furballs and I thank you in advance :D







Furballs' Koi


Materials

Yarn, worsted weight, non mercerized cotton, 1.0 oz. / 27.5 g, 43.9 yd. / 40.2 m

Knitting needles, straight, circular or double point, size 3.50 mm / US 4, one (1) pair / set

Scissors and yarn needle


Gauge (Pre block, garter stitch in situ)

4" x 4" / 10 cm x 10 cm          18 sts x 32 rows


Measurement (Pre block)

Length x Width            7" x 7" / 17.8 cm x 17.8 cm

Using 3.50 mm knitting needle, CO 34 sts using long tail cast on

Start knitting in flat rows (knitting chart at the end of the pattern)

Rows 3 - 4       Repeat Rows 1 - 2 one (1) time

Weave in all loose end(s)

It is getting hotter and hotter here.  Moo Moo and Tabby is ready to unzip their fur coats and change into Sphinxes. Though it is strange to release winter item in the middle of  summer, but I just fool myself saying I am planning for the coming seasons lol Furball's Broken Stone Leaf Scarf is a long scarf adjustable with numbers of repeat.  It is a continuation from last month project , enlarging the pattern and stack it up sideway / zigzag with overlapping to increase interest.  I can see some will comment on that it is too busy, but well, we all have our own preference and that is what made life interesting. Furballs' Treelings start Growing 傻貓樹苗開始長高

This small pattern had been in my back burner for a long time.  Now I finally have the time to update it and knit tested.  This is the first attempt and mix and match the pine tree stitches of various sizes.  The size of this piece is good for being a coaster and hope you will enjoy knitting it. Furballs & the Granite Stone

I came across the granite stitch a few month back on YouTube.   It is a four (4) row repeat knit pattern that is easy to execute and a no brainer to remember.   Even when your furballs meow and distract you, I do not think you will be lost in this simple pattern.  This pattern is also a fast knit as it is made of three (3) rows of stockinette and one (1) row of garter, so the height is building up as expected and see "result" quick.  It is a good stitch pattern to consider for your travelling project. The granite stitch is a very interesting stitch pattern that has not shown up much in knitting design (or maybe it has but the designer(s) did not mention it).   I had used it in at least one of my design (not yet published, pattern still need improvement when I have time to go back to it again).  When looking from afar, it really resembles crochet stitches.   Though it has no yarn twisting (as in crochet) to give it the strength, the decrea...
