Furballs' Full Moon Stone

From the last blog, Furballs& Remembrance Stone Poppy, we are now moving backwards in time to Mid Autumn Festival and celebrate with Furballs' Full Moon Stone in November.

Furballs' Full Moon Stone is an easy and interesting knit.  It makes a pretty useful coaster, scrubby (using scrubby yarn holding together with the "normal" yarn) or cosmetic removal pad.  The round circle is knitted in flat rows. For me, this is not the easiest way to knit an circle but because it is knitted in flat rows and most beginners start with flat row knitting, so the common notion is that it is easy.  Of course, technically it is easy with no special cast on needed, but in the view point of writing out the pattern, it is more challenging to place the increases and decreases in shaping the flat piece into a circle (more or less).  If we knitted in rounds, we will have a perfect circle in no time and I personally think that it is worth the while to learn one or two different kinds of circular cast on.

In particular to this pattern , the most interesting part is where to place the increases and decreases whereby the granite stitch itself already has increases and decreases.  So here, we used the most easy, or you can say the lazy way, by incorporating the shaping in the stockinette stitch rows.

Furballs at home say they will need to use two paws to knit up the circle and worth meowing when seeing the moon lol

Have fun knitting the Furballs' Full Moon Stone, and please remember to donate generously when you use this pattern in full or in part to your local cats / animals shelter.

In the next blog in December, we will look at adding more to this pattern and turn it into a decorative ornament for the holiday :)  Meow Meow until next blog
