This will end the year 2022 purrfectly for the furballs.  Tabby's resolution for 2023 will be nap more and nap more lol


This is a pretty easy pattern to follow and quick to make up.  A nice gift for your cat(s) to give out to their favourite humans

Please give generously to your local cats or animals centres when using this pattern in whole or in part so our furry friends can have a warm and safe holiday

Furballs' New Year 2023

Materials

Yarn, worsted weight, non mercerized cotton, (0.6 oz. / 16.5 g, 26.3 yd. / 24.1 m)

Knitting needles, straight, circular or double point, size 3.50 mm / US 4, one (1) pair

Scissors and yarn needle


Gauge (Pre block, garter stitch in situ)

4" x 4" / 10 cm x 10 cm          20 sts x 30 rows


Measurement (Pre block)

Length x Width            8" x 6" / 20.3 cm x 15.2 cm


Abbreviations

CO       Cast on

k             Knit

p            Purl

ppso       Pass previous stitch over

RDS        Right diagonal stitch

RS          Right side

sl1wyif   Slip one (1) stitch purlwise with yarn in front

st(s)        Stitch(es)


Right diagonal stitch (RDS)

Working on the RS and knit up to RDS in the pattern,

Step 1  Knit the first two (2) stitches together on the left (holding) needle (+1). Do not drop the knitted together stitches yet from the left (holding) needle

            (note that you have one (1) stitch made on the right (working) needle)

Step 2  With the two (2) knitted together stitches still on left (holding) needle, and using the right (working) needle, knit into the first of the two (2) knitted together stitches (that will be the one nearer to the working tip of the left (holding) needle) (+1)

             (note that you have now a total of two (2) stitches made on the right (working) needle)

Step 3  Drop the (2) knitted together stitches off the left (holding) needle (-2)

Make picot (MPi)

Working on the RS and knitting up to MPi in the pattern,

Step 1  CO 2 sts from the first stitch on left (holding) needle using knitted cast on (+2).  Leave the cast on stitches on left (holding) needle

Step 2  Using right (working) needle, knit the cast on stitches in opposite to the cast on direction: k2, ppso, k1 ppso (-2)




Using 3.50 mm knitting needle, CO 37 sts using long tail cast on

Start knitting in flat row

Rows 1 (RS) - 7  sl1wyif, k to end of row (k36)

Row 8 (WS) and following even number / WS rows unless otherwise stated   sl1wyif, k3, p until last 4 sts (k29), k4

Row 9  sl1wyif, k7, p4, k3, p6, k to end of row (k16)

Row 11  sl1wyif, k6, p6, k2, p6, k6, p1, k9

Row 13  sl1wyif, k5, p2, k10, p2, k6, p3, k8

Row 15  sl1wyif, k5, p3, k8, p2, k6, p5, k7

It is getting hotter and hotter here.  Moo Moo and Tabby is ready to unzip their fur coats and change into Sphinxes. Furballs' Treelings start Growing 傻貓樹苗開始長高

This small pattern had been in my back burner for a long time.  Now I finally have the time to update it and knit tested.  This is the first attempt and mix and match the pine tree stitches of various sizes.  The size of this piece is good for being a coaster and hope you will enjoy knitting it. Furballs & the Granite Stone

I came across the granite stitch a few month back on YouTube.   It is a four (4) row repeat knit pattern that is easy to execute and a no brainer to remember.   Even when your furballs meow and distract you, I do not think you will be lost in this simple pattern.  This pattern is also a fast knit as it is made of three (3) rows of stockinette and one (1) row of garter, so the height is building up as expected and see "result" quick.  It is a good stitch pattern to consider for your travelling project. The granite stitch is a very interesting stitch pattern that has not shown up much in knitting design (or maybe it has but the designer(s) did not mention it).   I had used it in at least one of my design (not yet published, pattern still need improvement when I have time to go back to it again).  When looking from afar, it really resembles crochet stitches.   Though it has no yarn twisting (as in crochet) to give it the strength, the decrea...
